Thank you to Chevrolet for the loan of the brand new 2019 Chevy Silverado and covering our hotel for our getaway! All opinions are my own. #sponsored #ChevyTrucks #Silverado

I don’t know about you guys, but making time to do things as a couple can be hard. Between kids, jobs, friends, and every day life, planning time away can be tough.  And if you’re like me, you sometimes (maybe rightly sometimes, but sometimes maybe not so much), put the squeeze on your partner to come up with fun, romantic thing, or plan things yourself that may not be up your partner’s alley. I promise there is at least a 75% chance to your husband or boyfriend has no interest in a bed and breakfast with frilly lace pillows and no TV.

That’s why I was SUPER excited when Chevrolet, the sponsor of Major League Baseball, offered me the chance to test drive the brand new Chevy Silverado to a PITTSBURGH PIRATES game! How cool is that?? I jumped on the chance because I just knew that this would be the perfect opportunity to plan a “bromantic” weekend getaway for my partner and I that focused on things that HE likes to do. He does so much for our family, and while we are all appreciative, I was super excited to plan a weekend focused on things he would like.

Y’all, the 2019 Chevy Silverado is seriously amazing. Before I even had a chance to climb in and try it, my 18 year old daughter needed to pull it up so she could get her car out of the driveway. She dragged me outside to come check out how cool it was, and it does NOT disappoint.  Now, keep in mind that we are already Chevy Silverado lovers – we have a 2016 Chevy Silverado that we know well and love.  But guys, Chevy really pulled out the stops in 2019 with a modern design that has all the power that you know and love about Chevy.  So Patrick was SUPER excited to get to check out this amazing truck for the weekend.

IMG_4498And he definitely had reason to be! First of all, while this was definitely a getaway for Patrick and I,  this is a truck that is built for family.  The back seat was roomier than most cars I’ve had, and EASILY fit two suitcases, a backpack and a large cooler with room to spare.  You could fit three carseats in the back without a problem.

We had SUCH a smooth ride – it has a Wi-Fi hot spot, and an amazing sound system. We definitely got some admiring glances when we stopped at the rest center at the PA/NY border! Can you blame them??

So, aside from getting to drive this AMAZING truck (with one of the most advanced V-8 engines in Chevy’s history, by the way), I tried to plan things that I knew Patrick would love…here’s a few tips to help you plan your own weekend “bromantic” getaway with your guy. If they are anything like Patrick, they will really appreciate it.

  1.  Choose restaurants that your partner will love.

I’m more of a fine wine and fancy food kind of gal when I go out, but Patrick is definitely a steak and beer kind of guy, so we made sure to stop at Primanti Brothers on the way to Pittsburgh to sample some of their man sized fare! Whatever kind of food your guy is into, make sure to make it a priority to try it out!

    2.  Plan Activities Around HIS Interests

The morning before the ball game, I booked Patrick and I a behind the scenes brewery tour – he loved it!  Whatever your guy is into, tap into that!

   3.    Sports, Sports, Sports

If your guy is anything like mine, there aren’t many sports that he doesn’t like. But does it really get any better than baseball in the summertime?  There’s just something magical about a Major League baseball stadium in the sunshine, the smell of hot dogs, and cheering fans.  It’s no wonder that an all-American truck like Chevy is a sponsor of the great all-American past time!

Patrick was definitely happy and in his element, and we LOVED cheering along with the hometown Pittsburgh crowd. Our minor league team, the Buffalo Bisons, used to be the farm team for the Bucs, so we love our Pittsburgh neighbors!

And if you think the opportunity for romance is lost, it’s not!  We had amazing and romantic night time views overlooking the Pittsburgh skyline and river!

We had an AMAZING weekend, and were even excited to drive back to Buffalo and get a few more hours in the Silverado checking out our favorite features.  We opened up the sunroof and really enjoyed the sunshine on the way back. While we didn’t get to use it, I think our favorite feature by far was the Surround Vision. We LOVE our trailer for camping, but there are times when backing into tight spaces with the RV is a challenge.  The Surround Vision feature makes hitching and backing a trailer easily by using four cameras around the vehicle to create a bird’s eye view of the truck.  In addition to the bird’s eye view, you get a great backup camera AND a front facing camera (which is great for me because I always feel like I’m going to pull up too far and bump something.

Part of the Advanced Trailering System, Hitch Guidance with Hitch View adds dynamic backing guidelines to the Rear Vision Camera system to help customers line up their hitch.

We would HAVE LOVED to have kept the Silverado for longer – we loved everything about it (it even got good has mileage thanks to its aerodynamic design).  If you are in the market for a new truck, I HIGHLY recommend test driving the 2019 Chevy Silverado.  It won’t disappoint and is sure to put a smile on your guy’s face!
