This time of year, things get crazy.  Between parties, shopping, holiday concerts with the kids, midterms approaching, baking, cleaning, and everything else that goes along with the holidays, it can be hard to connect with your spouse or significant other – at least it can be for us.  We have to make a very special effort to plan date nights, even if date nights mean passing out on the couch at 9:30 in sheer and utter exhaustion – hey, at least it’s done together, right!  But usually, we try to plan out something a little more special that gets us out of the house.  And there’s no one I would rather sit across the table from than this handsome guy:

One of our favorite things we like to do when we are planning a date night is to create a theme.  One of our favorites is Italian night, so I’ve create some quick tips to help you plan your own Italian date night.  Having been on a date night or two, I like to make sure that I am well prepared…so I headed to Walmart to make sure that I would be ready for a great Italian date night by creating my very own date survival kit!

Of course you need things like new lipstick, shaving cream, etc, but experience has taught me that sometimes your date survival kit needs to have little bit more!  You’ll see why soon!

Make Sure You Are Taking Care of Yourself

There’s nothing worse than having to cancel a date because you have a cold, or are drop dead exhausted.  This is especially true during cold and flu season.  Make sure that you are getting plenty of rest, drinking plenty of water, and eating healthy.  You might also consider picking up some Emergen-C, which I included in my date night kit. With over 20 varieties of vitamin supplement drink mixes, Emergen-C offers the formula, flavor, fix, and FUN you’re looking for!2.

Plan Your Italian-Themed Meal

For us, food is one of the best parts of a date!  For your Italian date night, head to your favorite restaurant, or if you’re saving up for Christmas presents like we are, cook up something with a yummy red sauce!  It doesn’t have to be fancy – just full of flavor and a little zing, add a salad, garlic bread, and wine, and perfecto!

This yummy red sauce is also the reason that I included Nexium 24HR in my date survival kit.  You’ll want to plan ahead: it may take 1 to 4 days for full effect, and you should use as directed. Just one Nexium 24HR provides all-day, all night frequent heartburn protection, and it is the #1 prescribed acid blocker brand (Based on IMS health data: total Nexium® prescriptions 2006 – 2014).

Choose a Great “Italian” Movie

If there is one in the theatre – AWESOME.  If not plan a movie night at home – here are a few of our suggestions!

  • The Godfather
  • Under the Tuscan Sun
  • Gladiator
  • Roman Holiday
  • My Cousin Vinny
  • The Italian Job
  • Eat, Pray, Love
  • The Red Violin
  • Angels and Demons

Prepare for the Next Day

If you have a little too much wine on your Italian date, you may have a little bit of a headache the next morning (not that I would EVER do that!), so you want to consider having some water and Advil Liqui-Gels. Nothing’s faster on tough pain (among OTC pain relievers) and it can help with muscle ache, headache, and joint pain.  Use as directed.

There you have it – we hope you enjoy your own Italian-themed date night, and that our tips help you get the most out of it! What is your favorite kind of date?  What would you include in your date survival kit?

Sounds like me and the man need to plan an italian date night. We love movies and italian and thankfully we haven’t needed a date night emergency kit so far.

This is indeed a great theme for date night and an awesome date survival kit. I would not have thought about a date survival kit but all of these items are indeed things you may need or use. I really don’t have a preference for a date night theme but do love your Italian date night theme..

Having a themed date night is something I haven’t done yet. Dressing up can be really fun, and I’m grateful my partner likes to be silly with me. It looks like you had a wonderful time.

Yeah, my husband and I haven’t had a date night in quite some time, but we have one planned about a month from now. Sometimes we are like ships passing in the night. Its important for relationships to make time for each other.

Date Nights are such a cool idea. You are so right when you say we have to plan to actually spend some quality time together and the Italian themed night sounds perfect, I see a ‘Lady & the Tramp’ moment coming!
