It’s that time of year again!  Today was my daughter’s first day back to school after a long, wonderful summer!  She’s starting fourth grade, and she’s both excited and nervous to meet her new teacher!  As a former teacher,  I know that the first day of school can be stressful and nerve-wracking for both the students AND the teacher.  That’s why I always like to start out the year with a little something special to say thank you and that you are looking forward to having a great year of school.

My girls LOVE MARVEL, so we wanted to make a MARVEL back to school gift, and what teacher doesn’t LOVE snacks!  So we were super stoked to find MARVEL Chewy Granola bars on a shopping trip to Walmart in the breakfast aisle!

My children wanted to eat up all of the MARVEL Chewy Granola bars right away – all of their favorite MARVEL characters were pictured on the wrappers, including Captain America, Hulk, Spider Man, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Thor.  But we had to see how many bars we needed for this super child-friendly craft.  My daughter did all the work herself, which makes any gift that much more special!  My daughter started by using glue dots to attach a red ribbon “cape” to a Mason Jar, and then filled the jar with a mix of both the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip MARVEL Chewy Granola bars.

These are super tasty granola bars – as a grownup, they make the perfect snack!  Plus, they are very filling, because they are 40% bigger based on weight of 24g chewy bar – the perfect afternoon pick-me-up for a busy teacher!  After filling the jar, it was time to decorate the cape and the jar, but we wanted to make this teacher themed, so my daughter used glue dots to attach a pen and a clipboard to each side of the mason jar (a teacher might WANT Thor’s hammer, but a pen and clipboard definitely seem more appropriate!).  Then, she decorated the edge of the jar and the cape with teacher-themed stickers and red, white and blue stars!

Katie was SO proud of her project, and she was SO excited to give it to her teacher this morning – and of course her teacher LOVED it!

My children were SUPER thrilled that there were plenty of MARVEL Chewy Granola bars left over to snack on (I snagged a few too!).  After about two days the only thing left of them were the collector cards that were in the packaging!  Both of my girls are excited to collect them all!

I like this idea of giving the teacher a gift on the first day of school. At what grade do you think it becomes strange to do this? I’d say in Middle school.

Awesome idea, I bet their teachers loved these! I always like sending a treat to school w/in the first couple weeks of school. Speaking of which, I need to pick one up, maybe we’ll do something like this for the teacher too.

    Your kids are so cute.

I was wondering if that was a new thing about bringing back to school gifts for teachers.

But I love the jar and how you put them together.

I haven’t yet seen the marvel snacks. I bet my kids would be begging for them.

What a fantastic idea and perfect for a year round teacher’s treat! I could definitely see my boys being proud to pass these along to their teachers! Thanks for sharing! #client

That is a very cute idea for a back to school gift for the teacher. I am sure my kids would love these granola bars and trying to collect all the cards.

What a great back-to-school teacher gift! My grandsons love all things Marvel, so I’ll have to get some of these bars on my next trip to Walmart.
