It’s almost that time – that special day in the year when Dad gets special treatment and recognition for all that he does for our families.  If you’re a regular reader here at Parent Palace, you’ll know that I have two beautiful girls, who have dads who love them very much.  They also have my husband, Tory, and this Father’s Day, we will be celebrating the anchor of OUR family – who didn’t biologically father my girls, but is a fantastic stepdad.

I think if you asked him, he would tell you that being a stepdad isn’t easy.  Like a 4th quarter quarterback, he didn’t have the warm-up – the years of experiences with the girls.  In addition to the prospect of becoming a parent for the first time, he stepped into a situation where he fills a “Dad” role but without the title.  I think that is really hard – being put in a role where you don’t have the same authority but have all the same responsibilities.  So I think he would say, and I would agree, that being a stepdad can be pretty tough sometimes.

I know though (because he has said it) that he wouldn’t trade it.  He loves the girls, and they love him.  As a full-time working mom, Tory steps up a LOT of the time.  He packs lunches, picks the girls up, shuttles them to activities, grocery shops, and generally makes sure they have what they need.  He doesn’t do it because he has to – he does it because he loves them. He truly is the anchor in our family, so he definitely deserves to be celebrated this Father’s Day.  I know the girls have special things planned, but I also wanted to get him something that expresses my appreciation for all that he does for our family.  He deserves a little spoiling! So I headed to the Macy’s men’s department to check out their fragrances – specifically the Nautica Voyage gift set (he is our anchor, after all!).  It was very easy to find – there were MANY helpers at the fragrance counter and they pointed me right to it.

My husband loves Nautica clothes – they are always very masculine and high quality, but I wanted to check out the scent too. Tory can’t handle too intense of a fragrance (they give him headaches), so I tried a sample.  Ladies – side bar – you will LOVE Nautica Voyage.  It is masculine, with a mossy, woody, undertone but at the same time a light and fruity smell as well. This is not too heavy, and you will love the way this smells – masculine, but not overbearing.  The Eau de Toilette is definitely my favorite – but the shower gel is smells amazing too.

The gift set itself is a fantastic deal – you can get it at Macy’s for only $65.00, and it includes a 3.4 oz Eau de Toilette, 2.5 oz Aftershave Balm, 2.5 oz Shower Gel, and 1 oz Eau de Toilette – a $128 value!  It definitely makes an impressive Father’s Day gift, and you will have such an easy shopping experience at Macy’s that picking out a Father’s Day present will be painless! You can also purchase it online at Macy’s.

The Nautica Voyage Gift Set is really the perfect way to celebrate Tory this Father’s Day – he is confident enough to handle his roll in our family as a leader, and as an anchor – he keeps all of our lives running smoothly, and honestly, I don’t know what we would do without him!
