How to Fit in a Workout as A Parent

As a parent, finding time to yourself to do anything can be tough. Even more so if it’s exercise. You’re tired, the kids are chasing you around all day, and you’ve got so much to do that motivating yourself to do some exercise is as hard as finding the time to do it. However, fitting regular exercise into your routine will help you to get a great night’s sleep, maintain a healthy weight or lose any baby weight you’re still carrying, keep you fit and healthy, and massively increase your energy levels. Walk

If you are a new mom, you should try to reintroduce exercise slowly by going for walks with the pram. The baby will sleep, you’ll get some peace, and you’ll be helping your body to return to fitness. Walk as often as you can, even if it’s just walking to the shops instead of driving. It all counts.

If you’ve got older children, leaving the car at home and walking instead of driving them to and from school helps to teach them healthy habits and keep them fit, as well as looking after your own health. You’ll also grow to love having this time to chat to them about their day, without any distractions.

One problem many moms have is that they don’t have time to leave the house. You can hardly pop to the gym or out for a run when you’ve got kids at home. So, try some workout videos online instead. If you can, make small bits of exercise a normal part of your daily routine. Soon, it’ll just become a way of life that you don’t notice. Then, even when you don’t have the time to do a bigger workout, at least you know you’ve got a little exercise and have done what you can.
