Anyone who knows me knows that one of my favorite hobbies is reading.  You are more likely to catch me with a book in my hands than watching TV.  I have a whole room in my house devoted to books – it’s my favorite place to stretch out with a great book and a cup of coffee and just spend hours engrossed in another world.  I love all kinds of books, but I have to admit – I’m a bit of a sucker for a romance, and as such one of my favorite all-time authors is Nicholas Sparks.  I pretty much read every single one of his novels as soon as I can.

Nicholas Sparks writes romance like no one else can – he transports you straight to ocean – you can tell he loves North Carolina, where he is from.  And let’s face it ladies, the man knows how to write about love – you can fall in love right along side his characters.

While I don’t always love books made into movies, Nicholas Sparks is the exception (The Notebook and The Longest Ride = faves)- I’m pretty much guaranteed to love it.  Which is why I AM SO excited that my latest favorite, The Choice, is coming out on the big screen TODAY – February 5!  In the new movie from Lionsgate, the Choice transports us to North Carolina, where medical student Gabby Hollan [Teresa Palmer] moves in next door to ladies’ man Travis Shaw [Benjamin Walker].   If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, check it out right now!

Are you sighing right now?  I’ve seen the trailer several times before and it gets me every time! In the book, one of my favorite parts is when Gabby calls out Travis (erroneously) at the very beginning- I just love her spirit!  I don’t want to give to much up – but I will say that the attraction between the two shakes things up in these two lives that they think is all planned out.  But the thing I like the most is the way that the theme of “choice” repeats over and over again.  Again, I don’t want to give up any spoilers, but it makes you ask the question how far would you go – what choice would you make – in order to make love alive? but I can’t WAIT to go see The Choice this weekend! I hope you join me!

What is your favorite love story?  DO you have a favorite Nicholas Sparks book or movie?

I haven’t seen the previews for this movie but it looks so interesting. I bet it would be a great novel to read as well. Can wait to pick it up.

I am afraid to confess that I have not read one of his books. I do love a good read, so I am going to have to get started and read them all. Especially since he likes to write about North Carolina. (I love Asheville!)
