It’s summer time and that means later bed times, goofy schedules, lemonade stands, and wacky dessert schedules! Our typical meal schedule includes the ever-popular Dessert Friday, but during the silliness of summer, dessert can be any day! With some help from Smuckers® and Walmart this Wednesday night was Sundae Fun Day!
We stopped by Walmart on the way home from being out and about and snagged a selection of Smuckers® Ice Cream Toppings to bring home. There are so many to choose from and since we don’t like to make picky choices about our ice cream, we pretty much got one of every one we could find! After checking ourselves out at the self-check-out (which our daughter loves to do!), we headed to the house to get our Sundae on!
Sometimes grownups forget just how much the kids get excited about things we take for granted. You and I can cruise down the street and pick up ice cream whenever we want, but the kids don’t get dessert unless we decide to put it out there! Well, with great power comes great responsibility and you should have seen how excited our daughter was to find out dessert was coming early this week. Take a look at the pics – she was pretty happy!
Following dinner we laid out the toppings on the table and had a blast building our own Smuckers® Sundaes. How much cooler of a parent can you possibly be than to help your kid set up and use their very own Sundae Bar? With all of the flavor selections that we gathered, there really was something for everyone’s tastes.
I went the classic route with some Magic Shell® Chocolate Mint Cookie Crunch over vanilla. I have never had a shell topping on my ice cream and it was delicious. The flavor was the absolute perfect mix of chocolate and mint which makes me think that someone at Smuckers® gets to taste this to get the ratios right, and they have the best job ever.
Jaime, ever the foodie, decided on the warm goodness of Hot Butterscotch. After a quick heat up according to the directions on the bottle, she poured out what smelled wonderful. The warm syrup on cold ice cream has always been one of my favorites (I prefer chocolate), and it must have been delicious because I don’t remember being offered a sample from her bowl.
You can see that Katie’s tastes run a little more towards the eclectic than, well, anyone’s. She kept piling on the toppings at the Smuckers® as we watched and wondered whether or not she could eat it all! She was a super fan of both the Pineapple and the Marshmallow toppings! She had so much fun getting to select the toppings from so many choices. Getting to top her dessert elevated it from a dessert to an experience. I was excited to have such fun times making dessert with the family!
Between the three of us we used Pineapple, Marshmallow, Magic Shell® Chocolate Mint Cookie Crunch, and of course Jaime’s Hot Butterscotch – So good! Ice cream night is pretty good whenever it comes, but Sundae Fun Day on a Wednesday?! Yeah, you can’t beat that.
What kind of Smuckers Sundae would you make?
