I was SO excited to be invited to attend an advance screening of Disney’s newest movie, Tomorrowland! I have been looking forward to seeing this movie since I saw the first trailer! If you haven’t seen it, take a minute to watch it now!
From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s “Tomorrowland,” a riveting mystery adventure starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.
So guys, I have to tell you.
I. Loved. This. Movie.
First of all, I was practically gleeful when my one of my FAVORITE Disney songs was one of the first scenes. Yep, that’s right. I LOVE Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow, the song featured in one of my favorite Epcot rides, the Carousel of Progress!!! I was practically jumping up and down in my seat. There were a lot of fantastic Disney World references – I don’t want to give them ALL away but if you are a fan of Disney World, the opening scenes will absolutely delight you!
So on to the movie – I thought this movie was the PERFECT blend of action, drama, and humor. Britt Robertson hits it out of the park on this one as Casey – she is bright, snarky, smart, and funny. I love her!! I also loved how she was a science and engineering whiz.
This movie would be appropriate for the whole family in my opinion. There are some news reels in the movie depicting wars and violence, and one scene where Casey takes a baseball bat to a human-like robot, but they certainly didn’t bother me, and I will definitely be taking my 8 year old to see the film. There were children younger than that in the screening and no one was upset! I definitely would recommend this movie to the whole family!
The message of Tomorrowland is simply beautiful. We can all make tomorrow a better place – it’s up to us! I think this is a great family movie to instill ideas of social responsibility in our children.
Five stars out of five on this one, my friends. Don’t wait for this one on video -it’s worth a trip to the theater!!!
