I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central and Kangu. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
No matter what part of the world that you live in, your profession, or what language your speak, pregnant moms across the world have many of the same concerns. Is my baby going to be healthy? How can I best take care of my unborn child? As a mom, I can tell you that even though I had amazing medical care throughout my pregnancy, complications still arose, and these types of complications seriously increased medical costs. Even though women have been having babies since the beginning of time, and medical care has certainly improved, problems still arise even in the best of situations. Kangu is an amazing non-profit organization that is working to endure that everyone woman in the world has a chance to have a safe, healthy birth for both moms and babies.
On average, today 800 women will die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth – this totals nearly $300,000 preventable deaths each year. Most of these deaths (about 99%) occur in developing countries. My experience with a highly complicated (and expensive) pregnancy has led me to want to help other moms in any way I can. Kangu is a great organization that makes it possible for me to assist other moms without having to make huge donations. The great thing about Kangu is that it takes advantage of “crowdfunding” technology. If you haven’t heard of crowdfunding, it’s pretty cool. It’s a way that communities can come together to raise money for something that they believe in. Kangu supports providing “safe births” for moms by providing healthcare services including prenatal care, as well as care during and after delivery, that are proven to save lives of mamas and newborn babies.
Kangu is SO easy to use, and you don’t have to be a millionaire to help. It’s easy – you go to kangu.org, and you can search the profiles of pregnant women in need and contribute as little as $10 to help eliminate the financial worries of a mama trying to give her baby the best. Your donation will provide that specific mom access to high-quality healthcare before, during and after she gives births. These services, provided by local medical partners that are vetted by Kangu, are proven to reduce maternal and newborn deaths by up to 80%.
Even if you are unable to donate at this time, you can still help! I-C is hosting a contest for Kangu. You can enter to win one of five $100 donations that Kangu will make to a Kangu mama on your behalf. Help spread the word about Kangu by entering today!
The stories of these women remind me of the challenges of my own pregnancy, and how thankful I was for the support I received throughout mine. Many of these mamas need our help to ensure that their babies have a great start to the world and that they also receive proper care. I know I will be giving; what reasons do you have to help women in need through Kangu?
