Personally, my son and I loved reading the various stories of children around the world on the SmileTrain.org website and what life was like before SmileTrain.orgsurgery versus what life was like post- surgery. Here’s a quote from Wang Li that gives some idea of how cleft surgery has impacted one life: “Spending time with others after the surgery it didn’t matter if I was playing games or just chatting, I felt like a normal person.” The impact that this has had on them as well as their amazingly positive attitudes throughout life was touching and impacting. Made my son realize how much he had after seeing some of these stories.

While the cost is quite low for this surgery, there is still costs and training needed for the communities, doctors and facilities that perform the surgery.
