Republic Wireless Offers Smartphones for $19 Per Month
The first time I read that Republic Wireless was offering smartphone plans for $19 per month, I thought it surely had to be a typo. When I realized it wasn’t a typo, I thought there surely had to be a “catch.”
But after looking into it, I’m here to say there is not one. Republic Wireless really is offering smartphones for $19 per month, and the plan includes unlimited talking, texting and surfing.
The plan works with the Motorola Defy XT Smartphone, which includes:
- Front-facing VGA Webcam
- Rear-facing camera with auto focus/LED Flash, 4x digital zoom
- Android operating system with wi-fi and Sprint® 3G Coverage with dual-band reception
- Over 450,000 Apps through Google Play™
- 3.7 inch Corning® Gorilla® glass display
- Dustproof, water and scratch resistant
In a day and age when many of us are spending more on our family’s cell phones than we are on groceries or health insurance, this plan from Republic Wireless could be salvation for your monthly budget. Because the Motorola Defy XT has Gorilla glass and is dustproof, water and scratch resistant, I think it would be a wonderful first smartphone for kids.
I know I was wondering how one company – Republic Wireless – could offer an unlimited smartphone plan so much more inexpensively than other companies. It turns out that the phone uses a technology called Hybrid Wi-Fi Calling, which harnesses the power of wi-fi while also having full cellular capabilities.
In addition to offering a great smartphone at an unbelievable price, Republic Wireless also makes funny video ads, and #thatsjustafact. Check out the one below:
One more thing you should know about the Republic Wireless plan: No contracts. That is music to my ears.
