It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 days already. 30 days of exercise, eating right and losing weight! Before I get to my final results, let me tell you what I’ve learned about weight loss. 5474249

Weight Loss isn’t easy. In theory we go into it thinking it will be a piece of cake (ah, cake!) The first few days we’re motivated and nothing can stand in our way. After that initial adrenaline rush wears off we begin to question ourselves and our sanity. We wonder if it’s even worth it and if it’s even possible. We look around and see others eating what they want and not gaining an ounce while we can just look at a slice of chocolate cake and gain a pound. It’s easier to just lose hope than to move forward; losing weight is hard.

Weight Loss is worth it. Depriving your body of what it wants and giving it what it needs is a shock to the system at first. But after a week or so you begin to lose the cravings and the weight. You feel more energized and then you start to actually see the fruits of your labor. Your clothes fit better, your skin looks clearer and you feel wonderful. When I look down and see your toes wiggling, that’s an awesome sight for me! Not to mention my primary reason for wanting/needing to lose weight was a medical reason – that has gone away!!

Losing Weight is only half the battle. Diets don’t work for everyone. Sure they can help you lose weight, but unless you stick to them you’re most likely going to gain it back. Lifestyle changes are the only way to come close to guaranteeing permanent weight loss. Sticking to a healthy eating and exercise plan is key.  I’m loving the amount of fruits and veggies I can eat and the exercise afterwards keep me energized throughout the day.

Okay…drum roll please! I’m not done losing weight yet – I still have a long road ahead of me, but I have managed to lose a total of 53.8 pounds since January 1st. For the first time in 5 years I am under the 300 pounds mark.IMG_7084You have no idea (unless you’ve been there) how amazing that feels to me. I’ve lost more than weight though – I’ve lost several inches. My measurements before and after were:

Arms Before: R – 22″ L – 21.5″         Arms After: R – 17″ L – 16.5″
Waist Before: 59″                                 Waist After: 55.5″
Hips Before: 63″                                   Hips After: 59″
Bust Before: 43″                                   Bust After: 40″

I know that since I lost more weight than many will in a short amount of time I have to work extra hard to keep it off. I have to continue to watch what I eat and workout diligently to keep my metabolism where it is. I also know this weight loss is soon going to slow down and I’ll be frustrated but I won’t give up. I’m seeing this thing through to the end – 100 more pounds at least!

(Before & After pictures will be here soon!)

Wish me luck and a huge thank you goes out to Omron Fitness and the Mamavation Community because none of this would have been possible without them.
