Making Date Night a Reality in 30 Minutes or Less! Campbell’s Skillet Sauces #Dinnerin15
Once or twice a month John and I get something most parents only dream of: a night to ourselves. No kids, no work – just time together. Over the years we’ve learned to cherish this rare occurrence and make the most of it. Sometimes we go out to dinner, but mostly we stay in with dinner and movie. It’s the perfect time to create a meal we’ll love but the kids wouldn’t necessarily like.
Last night we picked up a few packages of the new Campbell’s Skillet Sauces and made a dinner that was oh so good. To add a little romance to the night I turned our dinner into a picnic in the middle of the living room floor. It’s way too cold to go outside for a picnic and this was a good alternative.
I’ve found that Campbell’s Skillet Sauce are the perfect go to dinner starter’s for us. We can have dinner prepared in 30 minutes or less, so we have even more time to spend together. Throw in there the fact that they create an incredibly delicious meal and you’ll know why our pantry is now stocked with them. I found them in the same section as Hamburger Helper, right beside it actually in Farm Fresh! There was an in-store coupon right on the display and some stores even have the coupon on Sanderson Farms Chicken.
There were 6 different varieties of Campbell’s Skillet Sauces to choose from: Creamy Chipotle, Fire Roasted Tomato, Toasted Sesame, Marsala, Scampi, and Thai Green Curry.
I chose to pick up all of them! Last night we made a Shrimp Scampi that was out of this world. Something that was already pretty easy to make just became easier. I used a bag of frozen shrimp from Farm Fresh and a box of angel hair pasta. The Campbell’s Skillet Sauce did the rest!
All I had to do was add a tablespoon of vegetable oil to my skillet and heat the shrimp. I did drain them to get rid of the excess water from where they were frozen.
Then I added the Campbell’s Skillet Shrimp Scampi Sauce and let it come to a boil.
After that was fully cooked I tossed the shrimp and sauce together to make the perfect date night meal.
We opened a bottle of wine, lit some candles and talked for hours while we ate. It’s amazing how much you take for granted when you’re in a relationship. Little moments like this can do a lot to rekindle a relationship. When you have kids, a job and responsibilities the rest of the world can fly by without even realizing it.
As much as I love my kids – I wouldn’t trade them in for anything – I do enjoy having a day apart once in a while. Being able to connect with my partner on a deeper level than “Hi, how was your day?” is so important. We look forward to and make every moment alone count; even if we’re steaming mad with each other.
We were able to sit/lie down on the floor and enjoy our romantic dinner for 2 by candlelight. Without hearing “Moooom” or “Daaaaad”. Peacefully. This isn’t’ something we’re used to – but it’s not something we’ll take for granted either.
See our Google+ story for more and be sure to connect with Campbell’s on Facebook and Twitter. Also, be sure to set aside at least one night a month for your own date night – as you can see it’s totally doable. Even if you have to wait for the kids to go to bed ;)
