Can you think of a better excuse to invite friends over than to watch the Oscar’s and cheer on your faves? That’s exactly what we did on Sunday. Luckily I have the most awesome friends because we were all routing for Life of Pi and I’m sure the entire island heard us each time they won. Especially when Ang Lee won for best director – he totally deserved that.
I was quite bummed when Argo won over Life of Pi for best picture – I didn’t even see that movie! Life of Pi has to be my favorite movie to date; the animals alone were amazingly done and so realistic. I’ve had an incredible love of Bengal Tiger’s since seeing Life of Pi, that and an all new respect for the Indian culture.

To prepare for our Oscars party I headed to Walmart with a list of supplies. I knew I wanted to represent my love for Life of Pie so I stuck closely to an Indian theme. I picked up some seasonings and ingredients to make Falafel, humus, Samosa and Chicken Tikka. I also picked up my new favorite brand of tea: Bigelow Tea. (See more of my shopping trip in my Google+ Album.)

OMG, I have to tell you about this tea. Being from the country, tea and blood fight for the right of way to run through my veins. I grew up drinking tea both iced and hot. Hot tea is a necessity in the cold months and since I found Bigelow Tea that’s all I’ve been drinking. There are so many varieties available I still haven’t tried half of them, but I’m working on it. The fact that Bigelow Tea is a family founded and owned company strengthens my adoration for them. I love reading through the Bigelow Tea blog to learn more about the company and all the great things they’re doing.
The Bigelow Teas I have tried have been very vibrant and packed full of flavor. My absolute favorite is the Raspberry Royale but I’ve only found that on the Bigelow Tea website. I was so happy that Bigelow offers a Chai tea because that fit in perfectly with my theme. I made sure to buy a box of the Bigelow Vanilla Chai tea so I could send my guests home with a bag for themselves. We had such a blast during the party, I knew having the Bigelow Tea to take home would ensure they always remember it!
I attached the take home Bigelow Tea bags to the 2013 Academy Awards Ballot to help them relive the moments Life of Pi, and their other favorites won. On the back I shared some of the ways Bigelow Tea is so much more than other options. Like how it can be used to reduce razor burn, clean wood and more.

Since Life of Pi comes out on DVD & Blu-ray at Walmart on March 12, which happens to be John’s birthday, I think another party is in order, don’t you? I’ve always wanted to throw John a surprise party but he’s always insisting I don’t – party pooper! I think this year I’ll do it anyway and use the release of Life of Pi as the scapegoat *wink, wink*.
You might be wondering what the affiliation between Life of Pi and Bigelow Tea is since you’re reading about me raving on both. I’m so excited to tell you that that there is a Life of Pi Sweepstakes from Bigelow Tea, that started on February 20 and will run until March 20. 25 people will win the grand prize: a Panasonic Blu-ray player and a personalized Bigelow Tea Chest! There’s even more prizes to win so head over to Bigelow Teas Facebook page, like them to see what you could win.
How did you spend Awards night? Did you celebrate the Oscars with a party?

Love all the photos of your friends and family enjoying your party. Your menu sounds great too. With an exception of the hummus, I’ve never made any of the others, but your right about them being great choice for cheering on Life of PI.
I absolutely love your rubber ducky punch! How cute is that! You should definitely post the recipe.
