Family Night: Make it a Disney Night

Family Night should be as magical as the Magic Kingdom itself, don’t ya think? Why not turn your next family night into a Disney Night at home? At a loss for creative ideas? Don’t worry – we have some to help you out.

Family Night Disney Style

Be Bold. Be Daring. Be Brave. – Brave Inspired Family Night

BraveTo kick off your Brave Inspired Movie night, the first thing to do is get your copy of Brave. You can buy it or rent it now that it’s available on Blu-Ray & DVD. This is a fun and entertaining movie for the entire family. We couldn’t stop laughing when we watched it.

For some added fun, grab a bow & arrow set from the Dollar Store and see who can hit the bulls-eye. Make up your own Scottish Dance, make your own kilts – mix it up and make it fun.

When you’re ready to feed the masses, feast on some traditional Scottish food and speak only using Scottish sayings. Whoever laughs first is out!

Have a whodunnit Night with Dick Tracy

Dick TracyDick Tracy is one of those movies kids watch that makes them say “I want to do that!” It’s also one of my favorite Madonna movies (topped only by A League of Their Own.) Pick up your copy and make it a night to remember – with notes and all!

Make your family night a hit with a little role playing. Designate roles to family members (you may want to draw straws for the lead since everyone will want to be Dick Tracy!) Set someone to be the villainous Big Boy Caprice, Tess and so on. You could also play a game of Clue, that would allow everyone to be a detective.

As far as food goes think vintage. Root Beer Floats, penny candy and Chicago style Hot Dogs.

Have an Underwater Adventure with Finding Nemo

It’s one of the cutest movies ever with the perfect blend of humor and morals. Having a Finding Nemo family night sounds fantastic, right?

For entertainment (after watching the movie, of course) play a game of Memory to honor Dory. Get together and play a game of Go Fish and maybe even designate a younger child to play shark (think tag, but It is Shark.)

Find a cheap, plastic fishbowl and fill it with Goldfish crackers. Serving fish may not be the best idea for this family night – kids wont be to keen on eating Nemo! Stick to something simple that everyone will enjoy.

  1. We try to make it a movie night once a week and it works out well, the boys love it. Thanks for the tips!

  2. We love having movie night and family fun night at our house. We usually try to have some type of food that fits the movie we are watching. Then, we have activities as well! This is a fun round-up!
