VZ Navigator App: Holiday Travel Done Right

I can’t find my way out of a wet paper bag. At least that’s what John tells me. I’m constantly getting lost and my ability to read a map is laughable. I have no sense of direction at all; I live a mile away from the bank and can’t get there without GPS and a navigator. Stop laughing at me!

Because of my lacking navigation ability I avoid travelling alone as much as possible. I’ve had so many experiences of taking the wrong exit, being in the wrong lane and completely missing a turn it isn’t funny. Are you still laughing at me?! Maybe you can relate. You’re travelling to a new place, completely unfamiliar with any of the landmarks or areas. Your GPS tells you “Next turn 30 feet ahead.” Yea, let me get out and measure how many feet that is. Oh, I forgot to mention my ability to calculate distance is pretty lacking too.

So, what does someone like me do to get back in the saddle, so to speak. What options are available to make me more comfortable with travelling? Well, besides hiring a chauffeur or depending on others to take me everywhere. There’s one option that I’ve recently been introduced to that is absolutely amazing. It’s the VZ Navigator app from Verizon.

VZ Navigator AppIn today’s technology driven world it’s only fitting that navigation progression is made. Verizon now offers a navigation app that is perfect for the directionally challenged consumer; such as myself. Instead of my destination being spoken as feet, miles meters etc.. it’s determined by the number of streets and/or stop lights. So, instead of “Turn Right in 30 feet” it’s “Turn right at the traffic light.” But it’s so much more to it than better directional cues.

VZ Navigator App Features

The VZ Navigator app uses real time traffic to get  you where you need to go as quickly as possible. The app even gives you the speed limit for your current area. I’m sorry, but that’s so awesome! I’m always missing those signs and I can’t afford more speeding tickets.

How often do you find yourself going 55+ in a 35ish MPH zone because you missed the sign?

The features don’t stop here. The app covers everything, even which lane(s) to be in for highway travel and exits.

There are points of interest pre-loaded, and constantly updated. Finding an ATM, bank, museum – whatever you’re looking for. You’ll even get weather and traffic reports right in the app.

Still not impressed?

What if the app showed you where to get the lowest gas prices and allowed you to update your Facebook status with your location? Well, it can!

Safety First!

The VZ Navigator app has advanced speech recognition so you’re not sacrificing safety. I’m sure you’re aware the dangers involved with using your cell while driving. Effortless, hands-free travelling is right around the corner!

Windows 8 Phone Users are in Luck!

I can’t stress how much I love and appreciate that this app is available for Windows phones. I was so disappointed when I switched from IOS to Windows. There were very few of my favorite apps available. VZ Navigator app is not only available for Windows-based Smartphones, but there’s some extras just for them.

I can pin the app to my start screen for easy access. That means I wont have to swipe over and down to get directions. Total time saver! I can also easily share my location through email, Facebook, messages etc..

Get Lost…or Not

There are some situations where you want to, or are okay with getting lost. When you’re on vacation and have plenty of time to explore is one example. More often than not, though, you have a schedule/timeline to keep to. You have a meeting, appointment and/or deadline to meet. You can’t afford to drive around, get lost and “lollygag.” You need something that’s as serious as you are. That’s where the VZ Navigator app comes in.

I took the app for a spin today, just to get a feel for it. I had to borrow my mother’s phone since I don’t currently have Verizon as my provider. The app is usable with limits with all providers, however only Verizon customers can access the premium features.

I chose a completely random location and decided to follow the directions exactly. They were spot on, without flaw. That’s saying a lot since I’m in such a rural area. It’s so incredibly easy for me to follow these directions. Being able to avoid things like highways and toll roads is a key selling point for me. I hate traffic!

VZ Navigator CallSomething else I enjoyed: having access to nearby movies that were playing. With a swipe and a tap I was able to see what was playing where. Awesome! Oh, and I could call any location that had a number listed just by tapping it. That came in handy since the restaurant I wanted to order take out from was closed!

How Do You Get the VZ Navigator App?

If you have a smartphone with Verizon, you can get the VZ Navigator App for 30 days - free! After the 30 days it’s only $2 a month. Trust me, it’s completely worth it! I can’t imagine using any other navigation app.

VZ Navigator Try ButtonOn my last trip to North Caroline 3 of us carpooled in a rental. All of us had different navigation apps. It was crazy because we still had issues getting to our destination. We hit 2 road blocks and missed our exit twice. It definitely cut into our schedule and could have easily been avoided.

With the holidays upon us and as people start to plan their travel itineraries this app is a must have. I know you’ll love it. You can find more information by visiting the VZ Navigator website. Don’t get lost – unless you want to!

  1. I’m so glad to know that I’m not the only one who has a deficiency in my navigational skills – lol! The VZ Navigator sounds like just the app I’m going to need when we drive out to Montana to visit my parents for Christmas. I already got the DISH Remote Access app to keep my kids busy in the back seat with streamed live TV and our DVR recordings, but I’ve been looking for something to help me with our long journey ahead. A few of my coworkers from DISH recommended a couple of other navigation apps, but this one seems to have the best features. Thanks again!

  2. This sounds awesome. I have no sense of direction!

This will be very helpful!! I hate traveling. To much work goes into it, especially with kids!

  4. Wow! Free? I’m in. I mean, it’s worth a try, right? And it would really help me since I’m always getting lost…seriously. :(

  5. Perfect, this would be the perfect app for my mother. She is always and a day getting lost or making the wrong turn. The hands free option is wonderful too. I will need to check to see if her cell is with.

  6. My husband would love that. He is going APP crazy lately!

  7. What a great app! This would be so helpful!
