My family is a movie watching family. We don’t get television channels at all, so if the box is on it’s a dvd of some sort. (Or video games, but that’s a different post!) As I mentioned in a recent review, we are pretty particular about what we enjoy and let the kids watch, so I was excited to have the opportunity to review The Adventures of Bailey: Christmas Hero by eOne.
We had just seen the original Adventures of Bailey on Amazon streaming, so my kids were especially excited to see a Christmas movie with characters with which they were already familiar, but it’s not necessary to have seen the original to enjoy this special.
The Baker family has a special trip planned for Christmas, and the kids and dogs stay at the grandparents’ house for a few days. In this time, the dogs upset Santa by disrupting his display at the park, and are worried about not getting any presents. So, adventurous Bailey sets off in search of a wise Indian (native American) chief that could grant a wish – and all Bailey wanted was presents from Santa.
It was quite exciting and fun to follow Bailey on his adventures not only finding the chief but also of learning the lessons of giving and of family. I was very happy to find that a few parts of this movie point to Jesus Christ as Savior and the true meaning of Christmas. At one point, Bailey’s brother Duke points out a nativity scene and tells Bailey that it’s the true meaning of Christmas, that it’s about love and sacrifice and giving. When Bailey finds the chief, Handsome Fellow, he also tells him that Jesus is the true meaning.
There are some great teaching moments in this film, and it’s a great family experience for this Christmas season. I’m so happy we’ve found Bailey and eOne entertainment; we will definitely be getting more of these! You can read the Dove Family review online as well; these videos are Dove Family approved, and they are my family approved as well! Merry Christmas!
