For years I have suffered with getting a sound sleep each night. It only got worse when I got pregnant with my first child; and continued to get worse over the years. On most nights I can fall asleep easily enough, but staying asleep or getting back to sleep once I wake up in the middle of the night is where I struggle. In order to function at optimal levels and to be healthy, I needed some help. One choice was to take medication. But many times there are lots of side effects. Or I could try a new natural approach with the Nomad sound sleep therapy machine.
Discover Sound Sleep Therapy
So what is a Sound sleep therapy machine and how does it work? Basically it is a machine that plays a soft white noise, usually a nature sound of some kind, that offers your body the ability to relax and sleep deeply. All without using dangerous drugs. Since it is a natural approach to sleep disorders; the only side effect you will experience is a great night’s sleep!
According to Dr. Ralph Pascualy, ”the brain naturally craves sensory input. That’s why people in sensory deprivation tanks hallucinate; robbed of any stimulus, the brain creates its own. During sleep in a quiet night, any random noise, whether a passing truck or a creaking floorboard, is likely to activate the restless brain, waking you up. Constant white noise, gives the brain a tonic signal that dampens its own internal systems.” So having a sleep therapy machine helps to create that white noise to help your brain allow your body to relax and rest.
But not all sleep therapy machines are created equally. Many use science engineered sounds, and others use sound studios to create the sounds they record. But SOUND+SLEEP uses only real sounds. Their Sound Profiles are implemented with ASTI’s proprietary SoundStory technology. And each SoundStory is recorded the hard way. The sound engineers and design teams climb trees, sit up all night waiting for frogs to croak, and stand outside in thunder storms with high-quality sound equipment to capture the best quality sounds. So when you hear the thunder it is real and authentic.
Experiencing Sleep therapy with the Nomad
I decided I should try the sleep therapy and see if it could help me to fall asleep and stay asleep and feel more rested each morning. The last thing I want is to become dependent on medication for sleep or suffer with the side effects.
First of all, the Nomad is the smaller and more portable version of the SOUND+SLEEP therapy system. Basically it is the travel version; so you can take it with you on vacation, business trips or just about any where and still have a great nights sleep. It features an upward facing speaker for full room sound and has three different power options; battery operation, AC operation and USB power adapter. It also comes with a 1 year warranty.
It allows you to select from natural sounds such as
- ocean
- rain
- waterfall
- meadow
- brook
- white noise
Each sound selection also offers four variations of sound richness. High would be like the Ocean setting also featuring a fog horn or barking seal occasionally. In Medium the sound would be a soft bird song, and the additional sounds would be heard much less often than in the High setting. In the low setting the sound would be mostly the ocean with a few bird sounds, but less than the medium setting. And finally the OFF setting would offer the most basic sounds at a most consistent level.
The other unique feature of the Nomad is the adaptive sound ability. When this feature is turned on; the nomad sleep therapy machine actually adjusts it’s volume on its own to match it’s surroundings. When it is louder, the machine goes louder and when it is silent the machine is quieter. It is meant to match with your atmosphere and give the perfect level of white noise to your brain.
The adaptive feature has to be one of my favorite features. Often times when I am laying in bed and I’m conscious I need a louder sound, but after I’ve been sleeping the same sound at the same volume is far too loud for me and I wake up. That has been my problem with other sleep therapy machines. But with the Nomad adjusting it’s volume on it’s own throughout the night; not once did I have it so loud that it woke me up. It was always at a perfect level.
The Nomad sleep therapy machine also offers the ability for you to manually control the volume if that is your preference and you can even set it onto a timer for it to shut off after 30, 60 or even 90 minutes! Or you can have it run until you manually shut it off. It also lets you plug in your own devices such as your phone, laptop or MP3 player and listen to them through your Nomad machine.
I’ve used the Nomad sleep therapy machine for the last week; trying out all the different settings to see if it really did make a difference and which settings impacted me the most. At the end of the week; I can honestly say I have slept better than I have in a long time. I wake up a lot less often; and when I do wake up, it is quite easy to fall back asleep.
Due to growing up in the wild country of Wyoming; I’m used to nature sounds and it’s very calming to me. I especially love the meadow track as it reminds me a lot of camping.
But best of all, I have improved my sleeping patterns and feel more rested without any use of medication! It’s all natural and I don’t have to manage any side effects! I am definitely able to sleep better and all without a prescription!
