I love purchasing gifts for others and I like to think of myself as a great gift giver. Sometimes this is easy, especially for a friend, but to me, the hardest gift to give is to a baby or toddler. With them, to give that memorable gift that the parents are going to gush over, you have to think outside of the box…
No, this does not mean clothes. Unless you know the child NEEDS clothing, don’t buy clothes for a baby or toddler gift. Chances are, the family has been inundated with clothing gifts since before the little one arrived. (Especially if this is a first born – our oldest never had to wear the same outfit twice!) I learned over a period of years to not buy clothing for my babies. This way, if I do receive clothing as a gift I can appreciate it. This was a lesson learned that many parents never practice. So, to be safe – let close friends and family deal with clothing as a gift.
Often, the most overlooked gift for a baby or toddler is toys and rattles. I know, sounds so obvious, so simple… overlooked is what it is! I think I can count on one hand how many times I have received a great baby toy as a gift for my little ones. (Did I mention I have five kids?) That is terribly sad. The baby rattle used to be one of the most frequent gifts received and now it is a forgotten love.

Baby Jillian just received a rattle that is defined as:
Baby’s First Learning Toy
Do you think of baby rattles as a learning toy? Well, you should because NogginStik has taken the traditional baby rattle and turned it into one! Provided with the rattle are ways to utilize it for educational purposes – encourage babies to hold it, track it with their eyes, and listen to the rattling sounds. Take a look at the NogginStik’s anatomy:
LED color changing lights, mirror, rattle, and a flat bottom for resting on a nearby table (instead of rolling away onto the floor!) – This is one rockin’ rattle! We love it! After trying several toys and baby gear to find Jillian’s “go-to” soother… this is it! A rattle! Seriously, she can be in a panic and I’ll place the NogginStik in front of her and it makes her happy. The sound from the rattle also has put her to sleep! It is amazing! Who knew? Take a look in the video below:
Okay, I never comment on price in a review; but in this one, I feel that I must. Before receiving the NogginStik I thought the price was a little crazy… after all, it is a rattle! Who needs a twenty-dollar rattle? (If you are like me, you just cringed) Honestly, I would never have purchased this rattle in the store if I saw it on the shelf. I am too frugal for that…
Since I have tried the NogginStik, I have a completely different opinion! None of my infants have responded to a rattle the way Jillian responds to this. She loves it and we have purchased a spare to keep in the diaper bag (I don’t know what I would do if I lost it! Eeeekk!) Some kids have a favorite blanket, plush, or doll… Jillian has the NogginStik!
