Handmade Stilts

Did you ever have a pair of stilts as a kid? Did you ever really want a pair of stilts? Well, this grandpa makes them! I received for the purpose of review a pair of stilts from Stilt Walker. I know my boys are going to have a blast with these! They are very well made and sturdy, and I’m confident they will last for a long time, probably even long enough for my son to hand them down to his own kids… even grandkids. These are some well-made wooden stilts made to last for generations.

You can see here that no shortcuts have been taken in the making of these stilts. They are also adjustable, starting at the bottom run and can be moved up on the back as your stilt walker becomes more able and confident to operate them properly, or for better balance.

stilt feet

The stilt feet on this size are made for kids, but even my 13 year old (whose feet are bigger than mine are) was able to stand on them comfortably. There is another larger size stilt available, but we’ve found that these large youth stilts would likely be appropriate not only for children but for pre-teens and small teens as well. I might venture to say even some adults would be fine on these, but since there is a larger size available and you always want to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations on any product – even when the manufacturer is an individual person – then I would say even smaller adults should purchase the larger size stilts. I think it’s awesome that they come in different sizes at all! I know my kids would have a hard time handling a larger “typical” set of stilts, especially of this worksmanship caliber, and am happy with the smaller size.

I really thought we had achieved a picture of my oldest son standing on the stilts. I really had. This is one of those things that it’s fun to try and try until you finally get it! I’m sure we will all have a blast learning to use these, to balance on them, and to impress and wow friends and family. What a fun thing, and I know it will create some great memories and fun conversations as everyone tries to show off and be the first to get it right!

Merry Christmas!
