The family that plays together stays together.
We are a family of gamers, no doubt about it. We have several game systems, 3 computers and tons of games to keep everyone happy. We also make sure we spend time together and that we aren’t spending all of our time separated from the family playing video games. To help with that we set up a family game night 3 years ago. What our family game night is is a night for all of us to come together and enjoy real family time (not just the casual talk over dinner) and each other.

To liven things up a bit more, we invite friends and family over once a month to join us for football night (the 1st Monday of the month.) Our football night consists of a tailgate inspired dinner, calisthenics, lots of cheering and 2 hours of NCAA Football ’12 (soon to be replaced with NCAA Football ’13 – jumping with joy!!!) on the XBOX.

Our son is probably the biggest goofball on game night; as soon as we finish eating he rushes to the game. He’s been a huge football fan since he saw his first NCAA football game at Virginia Tech 5 years ago. I only wish his first words could have been “Go Hokies!” Of course, he routes for MSU, but that’s okay since that’s the other half of my family’s Alma Mater.

What I love most about our family game night, besides playing video games, is that everyone is included. We take turns playing – girls v. boys or kids v. parents and everyone has such a great time. It’s been a great way to have quality time together this summer especially since it’s usually too hot to get out and do anything.

Since my son isn’t the most sporty child (his hand/feet coordination is lacking… a LOT) but still loves the concept of the game he’s able to learn so much from playing. He can interact with the team, learn the plays and rules. He’s also learned a bit about sportsmanship, even if it’s just a video game. For the 11 months that we’ve had this game he’s gone from throwing a temper tantrum whenever he loses to shaking hands with the winner and telling them good games, that’s my boy!

Touchdown Hokies, woohoo!
We’re getting extra excited now because in just a few days (July 10!!!) NCAA 13 comes to Walmart and you can bet we’re going to be in line to get it. My son has that at the top of his birthday list, which is July 11th, so it works out perfect.
There are some very exciting features coming to NCAA 13:
- Robert Griffin III {Woo-ho, Go Redskins!!!}
- Doug Flutie
- Herschel Walker
- Marcus Allen
- Charlie Ward
- Barry Sanders
- Desmond Howard
- Eddie George
- Carson Palmer
- Andre Ware
An All-New Passing Game—A revolutionary passing system brings added authenticity to the Quarterback position from ball trajectory to play action pass to the option. Enhanced receiver control puts you in position to make a play on the ball and new read and react defensive coverage delivers greater realism on the gridiron.
Reaction Time—Great players see and feel the game differently. With Reaction Time, the game slows down during key moments, increasing your on-field awareness and opening up more opportunities as you sense things before they happen.
Dynamic Dynasty—Recruiting goes deeper than ever with the addition of dynamic recruiting pitches. For the first time ever, your recruiting grades can change each week based on your performance in Dynasty mode. In addition, Gameday Saturdays come to life with live studio updates and enhanced commentary by Rece Davis.

And our favorite thing, EA Sports new “You’re Covered” Program that comes out with the game on July 10. What this program will do is let gamers upload their picture online and print out a custom cover with his or her face on the body of their favorite NCAA Football 13 player!

We are so excited about July 10 and you can be sure we’ll be back to tell you all about NCAA Football 13 so you need to be sure to check back later because we just may have a super awesome giveaway just for you (wink, wink!) In the meantime, be sure to check out EA NCAA Football on Facebook & Twitter!

Your son looks so enthused! Love it.
