I live in the Arizona desert, which obviously means the air around here is very dry. Honestly, it doesn’t bother me too much, but it does cause some problems for some of my family. My husband has constant sinus issues, and the dry air only makes those issues worse. My youngest son has severe eczema, and the dry air makes it even worse. One of the biggest recommendations both of their doctors have is to use a humidifier nightly. Recently we were given the opportunity to try out the Honeywell Easy-To-Care Humidifier, and I couldn’t wait to see how it would measure up to the humidifiers we’ve used in the past.
About The Humidifier
According to the Honeywell website:
“The Easy to Care Evaporative Humidifier is designed to quietly provide invisible cool moisture. Water is absorbed by the treated wicking filter. A fan quietly pushes moisture out of the wick and into the air in the form of an ultra fine invisible mist. The unique top fill design makes filling as easy as watering a plant.”
What We Thought
When I first took the Honeywell Easy-To-Care Humidifier out of its box, I really liked the look of it. It has a nice, sleek design, and is really lightweight, which will make it easy if we need to switch it to a different room. The directions were very clear, which is always a plus, and it came already assembled in the box, filter and all. To start using the humidifier I simply had to lift the top off, take out the filter, and soak the filter in a bit of cold water. I then put the filter right back in, put the lid in place, and poured the water into the opening. TheHoneywell Easy-To-Care Humidifierhas a decent capacity – a gallon of water – and you can simply look at the fill indicator on the side to make sure you don’t overfill it. It honestly could not have been easier to set up. When I turned it on I was amazed at how quiet it was. We’ve used many different types of humidifiers, and I have never had such a quiet one. On high, it sounds like a small fan, and on low you can’t even hear it. This is big plus because both of my sons are pretty light sleepers, and they are easily disturbed by a lot of noise. In fact, that’s why we stopped using our last humidifier. It kept waking them up!
As with any humidifier, the Honeywell Easy-To-Care Humidifier does take some maintenance. It needs to be regularly cleaned with vinegar and disinfected with bleach. The instructions for cleaning are very clear, and you really don’t have to take much apart to clean it. In fact, you really just remove the lid and filter. You also have to change the filter every one to two months, depending on how much you’re using the humidifier. The replacement filters are easy to order online, and can also be found in stores (such as Target or Walmart). I’ve had humidifiers that are difficult to clean, so I was really pleased that the Honeywell Easy-To-Care Humidifier was so simple to clean and put back together. Over all, I’m really pleased with this product. Not only is it easy to use, but it also works really well and does just what a cool-air humidifier should do. We’ll definitely be using this regularly, and I want to purchase a second one so that both my husband and sons can benefit from this product.
