I can’t believe it’s almost been an entire week since Lewis came to stay with us. We’ve had so much fun since he’s been here and the time is just FLYING by! Lewis is our Elf Magic friend, and new family tradition, that was sent by Santa to keep Dameon and all of us entertained this holiday season, and that he is doing! Dameon can’t wait to wake up in the morning to see just what Lewis has gotten into this time.
I couldn’t wait to tell Dameon the story of Lewis and the rest of his family, and teach him how he could lure Lewis to come visit us! He quickly wrote his letter to Santa asking for an elf to visit and left out a glass of ice water and crackers. As soon as we woke up the morning after Thanksgiving Lewis was on the sofa with his suitcase! That night Dameon sprinkled the magic North Pole snowflakes on him and reluctantly went to bed. He wanted to stay up to watch Lewis come to life but it was already late.
When we woke up the next morning, we quickly realized Lewis is a big help around the house, but sometimes he gets a little ahead of himself. Lewis wanted to help us decorate the house so he added some garland to our ceiling fan. He added a LOT of garland to our ceiling fan, along with a pretty string of beads and even a bow! But, poor Lewis got tangled up in the garland and dangled from it all night long. Dameon couldn’t stop shaking his head as we helped Lewis down.

“Oh boy, this is going to be fun. Lewis is just as silly as I am Mom!” And that he is!
On another night Lewis realized we had forgotten something when we put up our Christmas tree. One night while we were all sleeping he graciously poured icicles on the tree. Somehow we forgot to add them this year, but luckily Lewis was there to pick up our slack. He managed to climb to the top of the tree, but silly Lewis got stuck on the star. The tree looked so much better though, so we weren’t upset at all.

We’re excited to see what other Elfcapades Lewis has up his sleeves this year (and I’m a bit nervous myself!) We’ve had fun seeing what other members of Lewis’s family have been up to by reading about their Elfcapades here. Their silly antics definitely run in the family!
When Dameon’s bike was stolen yesterday, I was terrified that it would damage his Christmas spirit. The thought of that alone brought me to tears, and I wasn’t sure what to do. When we explained what had happened his first response was “Phew, I’m glad Lewis is still here, because if they took him that would be bad because that’s kidnapping.” That made me chuckle a little and just reassured me how awesome my kid really is. If we hadn’t had Lewis here I don’t know what could have been, so I have to send a sincere thanks to Santa for sharing him with us this year.

When Lewis arrived he came ready to have some fun! Dameon’s favorite first impression of Lewis was of his suitcase, he couldn’t believe it when we opened it up to find an entire house! Lewis even has some extra hangers for his clothes (Dameon has already picked out a couple outfits for him.) He brought us a few gifts as well; we got a deck of festive playing cards with instructions for 5 Elf Magic Games. Our favorite Elf Magic game is Candy Canes, it’s so fun! He also brought a “magic” washcloth. It took us a little while to figure out what it was, as it looked kind of like a mini hockey puck! Once we realized what it was we got a BIG laugh because Santa knows how much Dameon complains about taking a bath! The fact that this was a magic washcloth made is so much easier (drop it in the water and watch it “appear”!)
We’re having such a wonderful time with Lewis that I think it’ll be hard to say good-bye after Christmas. Hopefully once we explain that he misses his family and has to head back to the North Pole to help out Santa and the other elves Dameon will understand. I do think he may be making some special visits throughout the year to show some encouragement and support though! But we’re not saying good-bye yet! You can bet we’ll be sharing more of Lewis with you as time goes on.
